About Kuroishi City
・Kuroishi City is located in the centre of Aomori Prefecture. To the west is Hirosaki City, famous for its cherry blossoms. To the north is Aomori City, where Aomori’s representative summer festival Nebuta occurs. To the east is the Hakkoda Mountain Range.
・In Kuroishi, each season is enjoyable. In spring there are cherry blossoms, in summer there are various festivals, in autumn there are apples and the autumn colours, and in winter there are hot springs and plenty of snow.

・One of Kuroishi’s treasures is Komise, an arcade that was built hundreds of years ago in the Edo period. It is considered both an “Important Preservation District for Groups of Historic Buildings” and as one of “Japan’s Top 100 Roads”.

・There are onsens not too far from the city centre where one can relax and recover.
Kuroishi is also known for its specialty foods, Kuroishi Yakisoba and Kuroishi Tsuyu Yakisoba.

Yakisoba are fried noodles beloved throughout Japan. Kuroishi’s Yakisoba differs in that it uses much fatter noodles than traditional yakisoba.
・Kuroishi Tsuyu Yakisoba
Kuroishi Tsuyu Yakisoba is Kuroishi Yakisoba that has been topped with a soup. Delicious at any time of the year, be it summer or winter.
Apples
・Kuroishi’s apples are incredibly delicious. Kuroishi’s apples turn out as delicious as they do thanks to the stark differences between day and night-time temperature in the areas near the mountains.
Kuroishi Yosare
・Kuroishi Yosare is a Bon dance that has first started hundreds of years ago. Each year on the evenings of the 15th and 16th of August, around 3,000 people get together and dance through the streets of Kuroishi!
